Practo Ray - Techie-Driven CMS/Practice Management for Clinics - 5 years wasted effort - went nowhere
Practo started out with Practo Ray - a practice management software for doctors and clinics very early in 2009ish. As Practo Ray gained popularity in the doctor community, Practo realised that in order for it to connect all the dots in the healthcare ecosystem, it needed to have a publicly accessible online repository of Doctor / Clinic database. This need was also echoed by the early adopters of Practo Ray who wanted to market their practice online.
Practo launched Practo.com which initially had only those doctors who had subscribed to Ray. As these doctors started receiving Online Appointment requests via Practo.com (which were managed by the Ray software), the platform emerged as a great product in itself. Practo built on this platform by stepping up its SAAS sales (Practo Ray) and also began massive feet-on-street operations to get every medical practitioner listed on Practo.com Today, Practo has over 200 thousand doctors across several countries listed on its platform. The best part it is that it neither charges the user (patient) nor the doctor for any appointment booking, standing true to its principal of 'Patient First'
